Pinpoint Adventure | MiDAS Training
What is MiDAS training?
MiDAS stands for Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme. The training includes an assessment of your driving against a recognised standard and has benefits that can transfer to your own car driving. An important outcome of the training is improved driver confidence. MiDAS is a nationally recognised qualification and there are over 3000 MiDAS organisations in the UK, including many Local Authorities.
Where do we provide training?
Pinpoint Adventure provides MiDAS minibus training across the North of England, including Northumberland, Tyneside and Cumbria. This training is for a wide range of organisations including schools, nurseries, youth groups and universities.
Who is the training for?
The training and assessment is for the staff in an organisation that are required to drive a minibus. Once a candidate has successfully passed the MiDAS certificate they will be able to drive as follows:
Staff with a D1 on their licence can drive a minibus up to 7.5 tonnes
Those staff without a D1 are able to drive minibuses up to 3.5 tonnes
The Pinpoint Adventure approach to MiDAS is extremely professional and the whole ethos of the training is supportive and encouraging
How long does it take?
Half a day per person is the usual time requirement. The theory session is delivered to the whole group and then the practical tests take place individually
How much does it Cost?
- It is much more cost effective for an organisation if there is a group of candidates, because everyone can attend the theory session together
- For a group of three or more candidates, the cost is £70 per person
- For a group of two, the cost is £80 per person
- For an individual the cost is £140
- In addition, if an organisation does not have their own minibus, it may be necessary to hire one
During the course you will be:
Trained on minibus equipment, safety issues and minibus law
Helped to improve your driving skills
If successful, awarded a MiDAS certificate which is valid for 4 years
To gain the award you need to:
Achieve 80% in the multiple choice theory test (A minimum of 16 out of 20)
Pass the driving assessment
