Pinpoint Adventure | The Duke of Edinburgh's Award

What is it?
As an Approved Activity Provider, Pinpoint Adventure is able to provide all aspects of expedition training including navigation, campcraft and care for the environment. We also provide practice and qualifying walking expeditions at bronze, silver and gold level. We are able to provide these expeditions in both the UK and overseas.

We can work in partnership with a school or youth group in providing training or practice expeditions, or independently in assessing qualifying expeditions.

Who can do it?
Pinpoint Adventure currently provides training and expeditions in partnership with a number of schools in the North of England. We can also provide this service for youth groups or other organisations.

Where can I do this?
In the UK the main areas that Pinpoint Adventure use for Duke of Edinburgh's Award expeditions are the North Pennines, Hadrian’s Wall country, the Kielder area, the Cheviots and the Lake District. In the Alps, part of the Tour of Mont Blanc is a wonderful environment for a gold expedition. We are also familiar with possible expedition areas in other parts of the world, for example the Pinan Trek in Ecuador.

When can I do this?
An expedition can take place during the normal Duke of Edinburgh's Award expedition time frame i.e. between the end of March and the end of October. An overseas expedition such as part of the Tour of Mont Blanc would need to take place during late June, July or August.

Why book with Pinpoint Adventure?
Pinpoint Adventure only uses qualified and experienced instructors, with a minimum of a Summer Mountain Leader Award and the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Accredited Assessor qualification for UK based expeditions, as well as an International Mountain Leader Award for overseas expeditions. In addition, because of our geography, teaching and bushcraft backgrounds you will get far more than just a walking leader. We bring with us a wealth of mountaineering experience and have a passion and enthusiasm for all aspects of the mountain environment including navigating, conservation, ecology, geology, glaciation and hydrology.

What do I need to bring?
We can work together with a school or youth group to ensure that all appropriate planning has taken place and that the youngsters are appropriately equipped in terms of both their personal and campcraft kit.
